Hola!! So much happens in our lives, I just enjoy making lists of things I’m learning every now and then. It helps me be more concise and to the point. Here are some things I learned while in Costa Rica, and am still learning. It is a spectrum of things and mirrors a lot of my life.

  1. Expectations are everywhere and it is important to check them to see if they are realistic. We practiced letting go and laying down expectations a lot last month. Not only does this create more freedom, but it also is an ongoing thing that must be done.
  2. I learned that I really enjoy bringing people’s dreams to life (Specifically our hosts)
  3. I love Chiky cookies and fried plantains
  4. You can enter someone’s world and still value and appreciate yours. It doesn’t have to change it. But sometimes when you consider their world, it can really shift your perspective which is beautiful
  5. I still love people, coffee, walks and ice cream a lot 🙂
  6. Okay I think I’ve decided…I love sunsets more
  7. Your kingdom role is wherever your feet are!
  8. Jesus showed me that I have been choosing FEAR and to partner with it for far too long. He gave me my power back and now I am no longer a slave, but am set free 🙂
  9. Memorizing scripture is so important! It is helpful when casting out lies in your head that are not true about ourselves
  10. Cookie and lemonade breaks last month were my fave
  11. I don’t love singing at strangers bday parties. Haha
  12. I learned a lot about the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit wants to talk to us. We tend to limit God and how He speaks to us.
  13. When we step out in faith, God not only moves but wants to move and we get to watch. How cool!? He shows up and wants to show you his love
  14. Spicy uno Is a fun time and teaching it to Spanish speakers is also fun
  15. I thought I would get tired of rice and beans but it’s month two and we are still going strong haha
  16. I love Spanish, and am determined to learn it. I get to continue to learn it in Nicaragua which is cool

Costa Rica was a dream and I miss the people I met there a lot. I am really enjoying the race and am just so grateful to be here and have this opportunity. Thanks to you guys for allowing this to be a reality and all Glory be to God. Here is a picture of the farm we stayed at for a month 🙂

I am currently in Nicaragua and have been for two weeks now. We are working with a ministry called Salt and Light. They do incredible things here for the community of Nicaragua. I plan to elaborate on this in another blog later. In the meantime, there are many ways you can be praying for the community of Nicaragua and my team. Here are just a few:

  1. Covid here in the city we are in has been really bad. We mask up everywhere we go. Pray for people’s health and that people would stop dying from covid here.
  2. Salt and Light ministries has a ministry that specifically works with boys. It’s a school program that teaches a lot of different things to them. (It is like a supplementary program they do in addition to their school) So some of the boys come in the morning and other come in the afternoon. The goal of the ministry is to break the cycles of poverty here in Nicaragua. Our host Tara has told us many stories of boys who have been through the program and how their lives have been changed because of the program. So be praying for these boys and the teachers that teach them. Pray they would know Jesus deeply, for their families and that we could love them well while we are here.
  3. If you haven’t heard already, I got a small fracture in my ankle playing fútbol with the boys this last week and am in a cast for three weeks. Pray for healing in my Ankle as we are supposed to head to Colombia on the 16th of this month. Also be praying for  my mind and that I could see God in everything even this situation.
  4. Unity and surrender within our entire Squad. That is all 20 of us that get to be together this month. Thanks God for that! 🙂
  5. Pray for my team of 6 (Pinky Promise) that we would be filled up with the Holy Spirit, United and dependent on God in everything we do. Pray also for healing in our minds and our lives.

Now I wanna hear from you! Share below one thing you are learning about in this season?

Peace and love,

<3 Cass

  7. Dear Cassady –

Wow. Great learning and growth you have expressed. I love, “..when you consider their world, it can really shift your perspective which is beautiful.” That is central to the experience of traveling anywhere. Prayers your way for you, your group, the boys of Nicaragua and all the families you will touch. I look forward to more stories, when next we meet.

    In Light – Scott

  8. Hey Cass!

Love hearing from ya! Here are the things I am learning:

    1) Spanish – still going strong and would love to hear how yours is going
    2) Cleanrooms – this is job related but I have been learning a ton about how to make medical devices in a clean environment

  9. Cass, my dear friend!
We miss you, love you, and are praying for you!
I’ve been learning about who God is and my role in sharing/living out my faith especially when with unbelieving friends.

  10. Thank you Scott! I always enjoy hearing from you. Can’t wait to swap stories soon 🙂

  11. Bro! So good to hear from you. My Spanish is getting better with each country I would say. Haha but I’d be curious to see if I could carry a conversation with you? That last one sounds interesting, I’d love to hear more about that. I hope your new job is good, probably learning a lot there 🙂

  12. Eva!! Hi! I miss you too! How cool it is that we can learn similar things across the globe and with different experiences. 🙂 love you friend and always enjoy hearing from you!

  13. Fun to hear about your lessons learned!
Glad your Spanish is getting better, but it is a lot of work, isn’t it! We just spent the weekend in Guadalajara with someone who didn’t speak or understand any English! I hate not being able to talk in a complete sentence, but I can understand and throw back broken-up sentences! So sorry about the fracture and trust it is healing. Prayers and excited to hear about your new adventures!!

  14. I love hearing your list of things your learning! 1)I’m learning to pray earnestly for God to pour the Holy Spirit down on all of us…ultimately that is the only hope of the transformation of anyone. 2) learning to let go of things 3) learning that indeed God DOES make good come out of every bad or horrible thing 4) That God came to SERVE us! WHAT?!!! – I knew the verse, just got it at a whole new level. Mark 10:45 What other god does that?? (obvious answer, no other )
